After pricing out some skid shoes for the Woods back blade I just got for snow removal on my gravel drive, I've decided to try to build my own. Sheesh, they're almost half the price of what the blade cost! I've got a pretty good idea how I'm going to construct them, but can't seem to locate any pictures showing how factory skid shoes are attached. Can someone help me out here by either posting a picture or describing how skid shoes are attached? The stores in my area don't stock them, so I'm working blind here.

Thanks,
Fred

I looked around one time too - I have a Woods 5' blade that didn't come with any. Evidently they are not available unless the blade is larger than 6'.

Back when I was looking around, I looked on the websites for Woods and Landpride. You can see pictures there, I think. I recall seeing pictures that basically showed a square hole on either side of the blade that the skid shoe support would bolt into.

I ended up paving my driveway and didn't do anything with the shoes (I just use the bare blade).

Not true. I have a Woods RB60 Rear Blade and bought a set of skid shoes from my local dealer. Each skid shoe consists of 2 major parts. The piece that attaches to the rear of the blade and the shoe itself. The 'shoe holder' is attached by removing the outermost bolt that attaches the cutting edge and replacing it with a longer bolt.

There is a post with a picture Correct skid shoe position. It was posted in August, sorry I tried to link it but it didn't work These are on a RB60. I just ordered a set for my RB72.

Fred,

Check link for a picture of the Landpride version Landpride parts manual It is on page 33 of 156 pdf. Very slow loading (their server, I'm on a T1 right now)

How can I do a search for "correct skid shoe position"? The only post that comes up is your's, Solo.
Nothing showed up on the pdf file after it loaded. Maybe I need to update.

okay...I just assumed that since my blade (same as yours, by the way) didn't have the holes in it that they were not available. I also think that, in looking through the Woods site, they didn't list them as an option (even to purchase later on and add on).

If the shoe bolts into one of the cutting edge holes, would you hav a clearance problem if you didn't want to shoes down (ie: would they raise up enough). I guess, to answer my own question, if you didn't have enough clearance, you could just unbolt them.

I sent an email to Woods (info@woodsonline.com) and they got back to me within a day with the part numbers. I then called my Woods dealer about skid shoes. They couldn't find it in their catalog and had to call Woods. The dealer called me back within an hour and quoted the same part number I got via email from Woods.

They raise up far enough to be out of the way. Actually, for what I wanted to use it for (poor mans box blade), the shoes didn't drop far enough so I have to modify them. For plowing snow, they'd work great right out of the box.

Fred,

Here's the link Correct Skidshoe position

The skid shoe was all one word. When you do a search, you can use "and" instead of "entire phrase" sometimes it works better.

Thanks Hazmat.
Sorry about that Freds. You can find it by also searching for just skid shoes.
