Hey guys. I ordered a pine straw rake for EA last-week. I purchased the rake to pick-up pampas grass refuse. It worked great, I also used it to knock down some mole hills and to pull the trash off the top of the garden. So far it has been a great addition around our place.

When I was doing research about this product I realized that not very many people out here (West Texas) have used or even herd of one. This might change when folks realize how much this thing will do.

Anyway, I was wondering what other uses y'all have come up with for this implement. Thanks in advance for great comments, b/c I know they are coming.

That's interesting. An hour ago I was walking across my yard and was imagining that exact setup to use as a dethatcher to clean up my matted fescue from the snow. That's a cool lightweight and simple attachment.

Ford: It works great for dethatching, at least in my pasture it did. We also had a lot of matted grass that built-up after a large rain storm which were gone after a couple of passes.

I saw another thread about a rake like that and thought I needed one for my trackhoe. It is too wet to get in the yard but I am planning on using it to cleanup the deep leaves and sticks in some wooded ground I cleared this winter.

I wonder about dethatching a lawn...

I have used the pine straw rake to cover broadcast fescue seed with good results on a seedbed. Seems to rake all sorts of debris from lawns with good results. Not quite aggresive enough for dethatching imo. Here some pics of my 6' psr behind my X749, does a great job of needles and doesn't seem to hurt the lawn either. The third picture is a new seedbed where the psr was used to smooth and cover the seed, leaves a nice finish.

jenkinsph, what's with the weld on your rake? Did you break it or widen it?

Ted cut it down for me to ship it free, my original intention was to cut it down to 48-54" width to fit behind the tractor. So far I have been able to use it full width. I will most likely order another 5' rake to cut down for narrow tree spacings.
