Tractor
Oliver 550
I have an oliver 550 3700lbs 35Hp tractor. This king cutter 6' blade weighs 675 lbs. Is the blade too much for my tractor? Am I going to need counter weight to lift it and filled tires to pull it? Thanks fellers.

Filled tires would definatally help since you are only 2wd, but is not necessary.

And your 3PH and tractor should have NO trouble at all handling the weight without haveing to add weight.

Depending on what you want to use the blade for, with an Oliver 550, I would seriously consider going to a 7' blade. My 6' blade, while not anywhere near as heavy a blade, is too small to really use well behind my Ford 851, a similar size tractor. When angled, a 6' probably won't cover your tracks. I use my 6' behind my JD 770 which is a significantly smaller and lighter tractor. However, I never really try and use the blade to do anything but move snow. I have other implements that I use for excavating.

ok thanks. I hate tp spend over 8 hundred dollars on a blade. But the tsc county line brand and these med duty and light dut blades look like junk to me. Look like ok for loose gravel and dirt, but I want to scrape ground and level some. Seems like adding weight to a lighter setup would just cause something to break in the long run? Plus you get pivot and tilt features. Go for the big boy? I'm thinking if I don't I might wish I had.
