I want to get a back blade for my Kubota 3010, what size should I get ? The tractor is 5' wide, do I go with a 5' or 6'blade?. It will be used for occasional snow removal and some stone and dirt leveling. Any suggestions on brands? Thanks in advance.

Roadtrash:

You will want a blade that covers your tracks when it is angled to throw dirt/gravel/snow to one side or the other. I have a 6 foot blade with my 25 HP Ford 1520 and it handles it well. At times, I would like to have a 7 ft blade. Kind of depends on how much maneuvering room you have where you will be using it. Do you need to get between narrow obstacles? You can always raise it a little to take less of a bite if what you are blading gets too heavy.

Brand is really personal preference. Mine happens to be a Ford brand, but has minimal adjustments (angle or reverse only). It does what I need to do, however/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Some allow tilt adjustments at the blade, rather than just using the tilt adjustment on your 3-pt hitch. Others have full hydraulics to adjust blade angle, tilt, etc. Some also allow offsetting the blade to reach out to the side a ways. Just depends on how much you want to spend and whether you have remote hydraulics available. My closest implement dealer happens to handle Leinbach equipment, which I find to be heavily built at reasonable prices.

I have a 6' on my Boomer, which is also 5' wide (actually 5' 2" at the outside edge of the rear tires) and it's just right. I have a Farm Star brand, which is inexpensive and has held up great for 3 years.

Like the others, I have a six footer on the back of my B2910.

That is about perfect for my narrower tractor [53 inches] so I would think the question at your end would be...[music roll here]... should it be a six or seven footer /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Even six feet wide is pretty wide though if you have move between things while turning.

RT-- I have a six footer on my L3010. It works phenomenally well for moving dirt, but when moving snow I really wish I had a seven footer so I could scrap right up to stone walls while maintaining a safer distance from drainage ditches. IMO a five footer is WAY too small for that tractor.

Forget brands, but go for the most rugged unit you can afford. And if moving snow get one with a higher moldboard so the load doesn't go up and over the blade. I have a LandPride 3572 with TNT. Very rugged.

I agree with Boondox the brand doesn't matter as long as it heavy duty an it is wide enough. I have a 7' with off set behind a 33 hp MF and it works just find. I wouldn't want anything smaller. I have a 72" Hardee-Williams and it is the same exact blade as one model of Landpride and several others.

I agree with the others that suggest the heaviest blade your tractor can handle. Go with the widest blade you can. I'd lean to a 7'. Remeber once it's angled you lose side to side width.

Make sure which ever one you get can be fully reversed while on the tractor. For wider blades that will hang the weight farther back. If you don't have an FEL you might need front weights for a wide blade.

I sold my 6ft blade and bought a 7ft this past summer. Works alot better for removing snow with my TC30.

As always the question is how much do you want to spend. I had the same requirements and tried to save money by purchasing a inexpensive landpride 72" blade for my 54" wide kubota b2150. The blade is perfect for snow removal but terrible for grading. when the blade is angled, every time you adjust the toplink you have to get off the tractor to relevel the blade. Additionally, every rock a rear tire goes over causes the portion of the blade outside the tires to gouge. Spending money on a blade with full hydralics woulds have easily solved these problems, but instead I bought a 54" box blade and am much happier using the box for grading and the blade for snow

i have a 6 ft first choice back blade works great, 7 ft would be better for snow but maybe to big for other applications. the better the blade the better it will work.
