I'm debating the purchase of one of these tillers and am wondering what the major differences are.

I talked with someone at KK, and they said it was exactly the same build... same gear boxes, same drive shaft, same gauge metal, just a narrower hitch for BX size tractors. Initially I thought that was great, but when you look at the weight, their standard tiller is 75lbs heavier than the XB.

Anyone know where that weight difference comes from? Seems like there must be more differences than just lift pin width.

I can get a standard 48" KK tiller here for $1482 out the door on a 0% credit offer, or I can save for about 6 months and get an XB from Anything Attachments for $1449 providing the price doesn't rise between now and then. The only hitch is that the KK here has been on the lot for 2 years and has the standard peeling paint and rust you expect from KK. The manager knocked $100 off for the condition. It's the last of the KKs here... from now on out it's Tartar.

I'm no expert, but in general I'd say that if you're gonna put it on a BX series tractor, than you'll probably be happier with the BX tiller ---I'll bet ya lunch they desigend it to fit because people asked for those changes.....

I wouldn't worry too much about the weight, I'd worry more about the pin spacing & how much ground clearance, once raised. The only true way to tell if there is 75lb difference is to actually weigh both units.

The XB series is made for a SUBCUT tractor, the standard tiller is made for the CUT tractor.

The XB series is made a smaller size because the lift height on a SUBCUT is less. And because some SUBCUTS, have a narrower hitch width.

That's also your weight difference.

Hope this helps

P.S. Get the XB series for the Kubota BX series tractors. Or The Bush Hog RTC48 like in my signature line. Both are made for Subcut Tractors.

I just purchased a KK 48" TG-48-YK tiller for $1249.99 at Rural King. My BX23 handles it with ease. I had to shorten the drive shaft 2". Two passes on the garden at half throttle, worked like a champ.

By the way, this was a new tiller, no rust, no faded paint.

As I just posted on another thread here on TBN........be sure to keep your PTO RPM's up to 540..........otherwise engine lugging can happen.............resulting in premature wear/failure on a diesel engine.

Alright, I think I'm just going to wait for the XB. I'm not much good at waiting though, I'm an immediate satisfaction kind of guy. I get in my mind that I want something and I usually either find a way to get it now or move on to something else within immediate reach. LOL... the XB will already be painted to match too.

thanks,
Ian

The XB series tiller is not offset like the standard 4ft tillers. I currently have the XB Series tiller for $1137.00. Register on my site and add it to the shopping cart to do a check out to see what the shipping costs is. You will be surprised what the shipping charges will be.

The folks up north are joining and taking good advantage of my prices and low shipping.

Thanks,

Bruce McGee

I'll check your site and rates. I did a KK dealer search and found it locally for $1309 + 6% tax.

Ian

edit... $272 to a commercial loading dock, $375 residential. That makes it cheaper to buy locally. Thanks for the attempt.
