Need help with Dearborn 10-152 plow

After lurking for quite a while, I make my first post...

I recently purchased a Dearborn 10-152 2-bottom plow.

I have a JD 2440 with a CAT II hitch. The CAT I pins on the plow drawbar are too short to accept the link arms on my tractor.

I am not sure how to solve this problem. What have others done to overcome this issue?

Take that pin out with a cutting torch. Cut back into the drawbar about 2-2 1/2 inches making a U. Remove the old pin and insert a cat 2 pin into the slot and weld in place then grind down, top and bottom. The other sides pin should be removable? Is that a 12-14 or 16 inch plow? Ken Sweet

It appears to be a 12" plow. The shares are a little worn, but are approximately 12" long. The distance between the top two main bars is 10.5"

I am hesitant to cut the existing pin, but I guess I should just get over it.

Did I mention that I am new to tractors and attachments.

I don't have any welding equipment yet, and probably not enough knowledge to pull it off, so I will be taking it to someone else to get welded. I spoke to a welder last night who suggested that I cut off the pin and have the bar bored and tapped to accept a new pin. Not sure if there is enough material there to be strong enough though.

Other options I am considering:
1. Fabricate some sort of adapter out of a new pin that is cut and welded to a bushing sleve that would pin onto the existing drawbar pin. (I fear that this would last less than 30 seconds before breaking)
2. Turn down the existing bar to lengthen pin, and use a CAT I to II bushing.
3. Cutoff pin, bore & tap drawbar to accept a threaded pin (as described above).
4. (Final Option) Purchase a quick hitch from Harbor Freight and use the plow as-is.

Please let me know what you guys think about any of these options. I am still looking around my area for someone to do the work before I make the final decision.

If it is a 12 inch plow, you need to set your tractor up first. You need to have 23 1/2 inches from the center of your tractor draw bar to the edge of the right rear tire. More or less a inch or so may be compensated on the cross draw bar adjustment. If you are not close to these figures, you are going to be in for headaches when trying to plow with the big cat 2 tractor. Ken Sweet

Interested in information provided by Ken, regarding inches required between drawbar to inside of rear tire. Is there a guide/table showing this data? Reason I am asking is that I have JD4700, and an old plow I need information on, to set up correctly.

The 23 1/2 inches is because it's a 2-bottom 12 inch plow. Two 12 inch bottoms = approx. 24 inches. To get your right wheel in the furrow, you want the second share to be plowing up to the inside of that right tire. Easiest way to set it up is to measure from the center of the drawbar (on the plow).
