Backhoe BH > Do you carry replacement hydraulic hoses?

I never thought of that. I just hope that I don't get in a bind that I have to have one, :confused3:I hope that there is a sign that it is getting ready to go, but that is a good question.

Shy of doing a complete rehose job and saving the old ones for spares, there's not much you can do but watch them for signs of deterioration/abrasion......the outside hose cover should not be cracked as it will lead to the corrosion in the wire braid underneath then fail when you need it most (under high pressure)....

Or you could invest in boxes of generic replacement premade hoses all with pipe threads with boxes of adapters to fit every application in case you need to save $20 or so instead of one exact custom made hose that someone locally could whip out in a few minutes while you wait....

I don't see the point of carrying hoses unless I am commercial and my job depends on little downtime as possible.

My backhoe attachment is about 34 years old and I am replacing hoses as they fail. I think one looked like it had been replaced before I got it, the rest look original. Failure rate is about 1 per year and I use the backhoe a few times a year. Sometimes just quick jobs and sometimes digging ditch for a few days. I get the hoses made locally for less than I can buy them from Kubota and I don't have to wait a week+ to get it. Unfortunately not many of the hoses are standard lengths available pre-made online.

I did buy a set of control-end replacement hoses for the FEL from Surplus Center, mainly because the economics of ordering standard length pre-made hoses at once was much better than ordering a bunch of standard length pre-made hoses individually. The standard length pre-made stuff is much cheaper online than getting it made locally. The control-end hoses have a loop in them and all are slowly cracking so I figured I would need them sooner rather than later as one had already failed. The cylinder-end all look fine.

when i got my model 500, It had 2 hoses that I didnt like the look of.. replaced em and thats been it for replacements for it in a year and 400 hours... when they look frayed, replacing them before they blow is a ton easier and a lot less messy..

Thanks for the responses... I am concerned about the downtime on my weekends at my property in rural NM. It takes me 8 hours to get there and the same to transport the tractor back home... and with the cost of diesel it is allot of waste if I can't get my work done. I am several hours (one way) from the closest supplier and would like to make sure that I keep focused to the task at hand. I continue to add to my "save your butt" kit. I recently pinched a stabilizer hose during transit :ashamed: and it got me to thinking about future problems.

Seems I read here once before about unused loose hoses having high failure rates? And what could be done to minimize that issue... if indeed it is an issue?

Thanks TBN team!
