Thanks Ken.

One more question:

What is the minimum and maximum bed width as measured from the inside disks?

Thanks,

That thing is neat, and I need one. But I still think the row maker is mounted incorrectly. Shouldn't it be AFTER the hilling operation?

I'm building one of these and I'm looking around at designs. I agree Jim, it seems like the row path will get covered by the blades. I watched the video Ted from EA does and he mentioned this too. His is behind.
What's the benefit of two disks? Does the outside one cover the tire tracks? Ted has tines to do that but I'm questioning the need to cover the outside tracks as they will be between rows if I'm thinking this through correctly not having used one.

Good questions Rob. I am leaning towards building some kind of universal 3-point toolbar frame with about three rows of cross tubes, then attach the working subassemblies with clamps, so I can experiment with different spacings, order, and combinations. I may even find that I change it seasonally depending on what I am trying to accomplish. Collecting parts now. And watching you guys for ideas of course...

Jim,
I'm having a tough time getting the disc assemblies. I can find the disc from the site mentioned below but the shaft and bearing assembly with the disc as a unit isn't something I've found.
Had any luck?

Rob

We now stock the Atlas Dual Blade Bedder/Hiller with adjustable (up and down) row maker point in the center. The center row maker point has 3 depth settings and also lowers all the way down to act as a jack stand. In addition, it raises all the way up for times you do not wish to use it. Features 18 inch diameter blades. New style nylon bearings that have a zerk fitting to keep them lubed for long life. Adjustable width for your hiller blades on the toolbar. $545 + shipping. I want to take time to thank all you that have purchased this hiller. Your response has been more than we could have hoped for on a new product. We promise to stay stocked heavy for the spring season to meet all needs. Ken Sweet

Ken,
What is the purpose of the dual discs? Also, if it's "lubed for life" why do you need the zerks?

I'll make a new thread to discuss the fabrication of the attachment in fairness to you.

Rob, the dual discs give you the capability to bring in more soil from each side for the opportunity to make a wider hill. The zerk is for people that can tear up a anvil with a rubber hammer. I always figured you could not burn a bearing out with too much lube. Looks the Mfgr thinks the same way I do. LOL

I agree. It looks like a nice unit but it looks like the row maker would need to be at the back or the discs would cover the row back up. Can any of you guys that have it comment? Also, Ken do you exopect to get it in a wider model? It's looks mighty narrow.
Thanks
RJ

23 inches wide is wide enough. If the row maker can't make a small furrow in 24 inches, we better go back to the grubbing hoe. Not 1 negative feedback for the first full season. As the old saying goes. "you guys are just seeing boogers" that are not there. lol Ken Sweet
