Any source for John Deere MX6 cutter parts?

I don't recall hearing of this issue with any others. I run a 2004 MX6 with a Spain gear box. Before reading these stories of failed gear boxes I would back down pond dam and push over and lower down on probably 4" trees and mulch them into chips. Was doing this before realizing the need to slip the clutch annually. Have run over an old gear box once that hit hard enough to make a visible dent in the side wall even though it is double walled. So far no issues whatsoever.

Have considered selling it and buying a Bush Hog brand 286 or equivalent but have run a 285 5' cutter and actually like the cut of the MX6 better. At this point planning to stick with it since is 10 years old and no issues and very satisfactory performance.

I have a MX5 and the shaft broke on mine too. I was mowing grass when it fell out the bottom. I bitched at JD to try to get some help with fixing it. And JD didn't want to do anything for me so I put it out back on the junk pile. 2 yrs. later I was checking out the Gator 825i and was making a deal with my local dealer and I brought up the issue about the MX5 and the Dealer said he would look back into helping me fix it. Well long story sort, They got me a new gear box at No Charge but I had to buy the new pan at $750 to fit the new China gear box. So now I have a working MX5 and a Gator 825i loaded and a happy owner !!

Only reason I got rid of my mx6 is I somehow bent the pto shaft. Never figured out how either and I've never bent another one on any other cutter I've had and they were used way harder then it was. I priced a new pto shaft and of course it was almost $1000. I said heck with this and sold it and bought me a Bush Hog BH16. Doesn't cut as nice as the mx6 but it sure is tougher then the mx6.

Yeah the MX series do cut nice as they have a very high blade tip speed.

I have a freshly redone MX6. It looks like new. It has the gearbox from a 709 on it. Works great. Too dang heavy for my farmtrac 545. I have to weight the front end a whole bunch. Ill sell it off if anybody wants it. I am in Gulfport MS

So this will fix the Spain gear boxes that broke the shaft? Also can reuse the old pan?

I have both an mx6 & 286, that 286 cuts way better than what that mx6 does. It's honestly no comparison, that mx6 looks like you whipped the grass with a logging chain. I've had 3 different John deere cutters and all 3 of them cut like that. That bush hog cuts way better than what that John deere does !!
