    Default Pittsburg 2 bottom plow

    Found one in fairly decent shape today, so it followed me home. The guy selling said it was a 2-14 and it wasn't until I got it home and measured it I discovered it is a 2-16. No cracks, welds, or other uglies. A bit rusty, but straight.

    Trip shanks. Shins, moldboards, and to a somewhat lesser degree - the shares, seem to have some life left. Landslides are a different story. Need new ones. Did a search and read where Oliver parts should substitute? The plan is to use it for a few foodplots here and there. Weekend hobby stuff.

    Looks like a solid plow. That is exactly what i'm looking for in my area. Have fun with it.

    I bought a Ferguson plow at an auction on which the landside was worn paper thin in one spot. I had trouble finding someone on-line finding a landside that would match so I used the old one as a pattern and made my own. I have also seen people weld plowshares to their worn landsides when they had trouble finding new ones.

    Landsides are almost impossible to find for these old plows. I restored an old Ford and searched the country before I finally found a set. Post some pictures of the landsides and let us see what you need. You can also weld "scabs" to the old ones that should suffice.

    Thanks, guys.

    I carried the plow to the farm over the weekend and gave it a try. Worked very well. Took a few more pics of it, will have to see if any of the landside pics turned out.

    Also made a few sketches of the parts, their mounting holes, and dimensions. Will get that info up later. Hope to avoid making new landsides, but will if necessary.

    Here's two more pics of the plow, one of which is the long landside. Didn't have a pic of the short landside.

    It cleaned up fairly nice with a dose of Kroil. Forgot to mention, one of the CAT 1 pins is bent - but luckily it is bolted on and easily replaced.

    Found this: Plow Share Cross Measurments The dimensions of the Oliver share do indeed match my plow, to the best of my ability to measure with it mounted (and a bit worn).

    So... I suppose I will try and locate some Oliver parts and test fit.

    Good luck on the Oliver parts since they where purchased by White, which then became AGCO and now is?????

    Try Crescent Forge. I am not sure if they are still doing business, but worth a try. They have all sorts of plow parts listed. crescentforge@comcast.net or (309) 543-3348 When I restored mine, they were not doing business, but I think they are back. I finally found the long rear landside and the front ones also.

    Last time I spoke with the former owner of Crescent Forge, they were no longer in business.
    There are three kinds of men;
    1.) The ones that learn by reading
    2.) The few who learn by observation
    3.) The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.
