Do you lube your 3-Point linkages?

How old does your equipment have to be before you grease your balls? Plus if you use any sprays it tends to burn a wee bit.....

Good ideas. It turns out I have some bicycle chain dry lube, and that seems like a pretty good choice, all things considered.

I vote for no grease. I am not a heavy tractor user but if there was grease all over my 3 pt hitch and attachments I would be scared to walk in the barn for fear of coming out covered in grease. Even with my limited use my balls stay rust free. Yes I am married with a couple kids.

You know, that is a good point. I grease, then I wipe things down, and I still get grease on me. If I did that to the 3pt, I'd be a mess all the time.

Still curious what the BIG DOGS (Mid-West farmers farming 1000's of acres) do.

May I suggest spray graphite. I use the stuff JD labels for slip clutches anywhere you need lube(but not bearings of course). It works great. It does not attract dirt or dust, and after a few uses, seems to impregnate in the metal and reduce or eliminate oxidation. I have been using it on the top link, balls, and pivot points on the tractor with no problems. It also works wonders on hinges, gates, squeaky leaf springs, etc.

I tried dry film lubricant but it doesn't seem to work as well or last as long. I use the graphite maybe once a year on tractor and equipment and it lasts all season.

Spray it on but let it flash off before moving the parts.

Don't grease thing's! If you do I might be out of a job!
On a serious note the reason we sell so many moving parts, pins and balls included is because people believe greasing things is bad?????
If you own a grease gun and know how to use it then you can own a tractor. If you don't then don't by a tractor. Tractors need grease as much as they need diesel, you can never have to much grease. Tractors are also dirty machines ( yes even the ones that get polished) so if you don't grease a tractor because you are worried about getting dirty don't come crying to me about having to keep replacing parts!
