It's almost identical to the UK MF 732, built early 60s, they worked ok maybe 4_5 mph, it could have either a steel or a wooden pitman, I still have the operator manual for a 732.

If my old eyes aren't playing tricks on me, that appears to be a #41 DynaBalance. There's a black tag on the frame, visible in the photo, that will clear up any doubt. (model/serial #) Decent mower. (Not a NH 451 though) IIRC, those were made for Massey by Vermeer (????)

5 years ago, they were everywhere for $350---$400. No more. A GOOD sickle bar mower will fetch what they're asking, maybe more. One for sale near me for $1500. Asking and GETTING are two different things.

It does appear to look like the #41 as best as I can tell.

But the 3PH frame also looks similar to the #32, but some of the pics on google look like the #32 are a pitman style, and this one clearly is not??

So IF it is a #41, is it worth $600, or at least making the hour drive to look over for $600???

Anything particular on a #41 to look out for?

The major differences between the 31 and 41 are in the drive unit. Here's the 31.

If the head is a welded up drive head, it is a 41 and if it is a cast housing, it is a 31. The belt drives have about a 102 inch C belt on them. If there is no play in the head and no breaks or welds and the driveline is good and the sections and rockguards are till good. $600 is a great price. Ken Sweet

Looks like around a 67 vintage. I have one that looks just like it and parts are almost impossible to find. Great mower in it's day. When the last spare section breaks I believe it will be a parts supply unit for someone. I would not recommend the purchase.

We have no trouble buying new wear parts locally for all the Massey sickle mowers. We have most of the major component parts available used. Ken Sweet
