Our local JD dealer has Frontier box blades. Has anyone had any experience with them or know any details such as weight, durability, strength, etc.? I believe they are manufactured in Kansas. They look sturdy and heavy built. Are they comparable to KK, Landpride, etc.?
Thanks
Jim

Midwest makes a great boxblade in Harrisburg,IL. Do business with your home folks first.

I believe that the frontier box blades are made by Woods. Woods has a good reputation for building durable equipment. From the looks of the photos in the brochure, these are some of Woods' lighter duty models. They are still well-built (I own a Woods lighter duty model and am very satisfied with it, even in rocky Vermont soil. I've used it for grading around our new house, maintaining 1000+ ft of gravel driveway, and ripping up sapling stuble left after brush-hogging trails through my woods.) If you are looking for a commercial duty unit, you'll need to step up a level or two, however.

Sorry for the late reply, in the proicess of hooking up my new computer system, shoud be running in about a week. I've seen some of the Midwest equipment before but was not impressed, after visiting the site I realized I was looking at the lightwieght stuff. The specs for the 20 and 30 series seems comparable to KK, LP, and others. Thanks for the info.

Do you know offhand what your boxblade weighs? I've not had the opportunity to look at a woods yet.

Thanks

Jim,
Here is A LINK to all Frontier equipment, page 4 has all specs on everything. You need the free Acrobat Reader to view it though as it is in .PDF format. Hope this helps.
