I searched the pallet fork subject, but did not see anything specifically for attaching forks to an existing bucket. I checked with my NH Dealer on quick attach option, and prices are way too high considering the limited use I would get from this implement.

Has anyone purchased some pallet forks that are able to easily hang from the 16LA HD bucket and capable of handling @1800 lbs? Would appreciate any pictures, prices and links to manufacturer.

How about applying some strong hooks onto the bucket and then you roll the bucket forward, then roll it back after you've 'hooked' the bar that holds the forks. See attachment. The middle is what I'm talking about. I see it all the time on case 580E backhoes.

Here's a 580d case backhoe with those hooks that they use to put the pallet forks on.

The attached pic in your post shows some clamp-on forks as well. Might work for him.

What do u consider too $$ hi ?
W/ the SSL quick tach look around and find a used set
of forks.
I've seen prices in $200+ range and buying bucket forks
might cost more.
What part of WV do u live in?
If u came over to OH u might find more used sets.
Check out rental places also.

When I was test driving a Yanmar tractor the dealer had a set of the clamp on forks. I watched him put them to use and it seemed like a great method

I have a set of clamp on pallet forks. They are easy to get on and off, BUT...

They won't fit over my tooth bar. So if I want to use them I have to take the tooth bar off. Not a big deal, but adds to the time it takes to actually use them...five minutes to take the tooth bar off and another five to put it back on.

The clamp on forks themselves only take about a minute each, including the carrying time to the loader... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Jlong,

I could be wrong but when you say you are looking for an 1800 lbs capacity I think you are past the limits of clamp on forks. That is a lot of weight to hang out past the bucket. I don't know the capacity of the 16LA loader but sure would question how much stress that kind of weight would put on the pins and bushing that far in front of the loader arms.

Good point. LA16 on a TC40 is 2000lb at pivot points. The bucket is almost 24" deep. Hanging fork from the front would really shift the center of gravity forward. I have quick tack forks on my loader and if I have a big oak log on the tips, I can feel the rear lighten up until I roll them back and slide them closer to the pivot pin.

Right on target MarkV--In addition. The weight of the bucket + forks need to be added to the total, when figuring the total weight being lifted--We use a barrell of concrete on our 3 point to hold the rear down on a 285 MF loader tractor (85HP) with Allied 595 Loader with oversize cyls. Even with this setup, the back is somewhat unstable with 2500 lbs. on the front loader--Safety First!!--Ken Sweet
