jcb backhow
Hi I have just acquired a 1997 Jcb backhoe but it is claiming that it has low transmission pressure. Have replaced oil filter and cleaned screen and will now check the solinoid valves thanks to the info have read on this web site. Its great that information can be found without having to hire a mechanic if its not seriously in need. (hopefully) this machine will be an asset to all the jobs that need to get done here, just wish it would work. bought the proper oil for it 10 weight special which is quite expensive. It looked like it had 10 weight atf in it by previous owner. the machine runs but once trying to go for a load with loader it powers out and does not want to move but will travel down the road fine, but the light is on saying low pressure in tranny so had to park it. have not really had a chance to run it at all since acquiring it. If anyone has any info that might rectify please and thank you for your info. Also does the alternator have to be a Jcb for the solinoides or will any one do? the alternator light is also on.

Re: jcb backhow
found the reason for the low tranny and the field not running from the alternator was the sender unit on top of the tranny. The diaphram got a hole in it and let oil hit the contacts, which in turn did not turn off the low tranny pressure oil light. The tach stopped two. It is hard to reach this sender unit could not find a hole in the floor so had to do it blindly but now it works. Also found out the the perkins alternator is actually used on lots of diffferent machinery so is easy to get brushes or replacement here in North America
