Flail Mower 2 piece blades onto a Ford 907 flail? (yes, i searched the monster)

Hi guys,

We have an old 907 with some pretty tired blades. The 907 uses a common rod to mount the flails, so I have to pretty much remove all of them to replace the damaged ones, so I figure I may as well do it all. I see flailmaster has the riveted one-piece blades (same as what the machine has currently)

...and also a part listed as a "Ford Heavy Duty Blade":

I know I'd need twice as many of the "heavy duty" blades, but it still comes out to less than half the cost of the riveted part. I don't care at all if the finish is perfectly smooth or slightly ridged, and would prefer the more robust less-likely-to-snarl option if possible. We use this for cutting down cover crops of rye, oats, etc, and I'd love to be able to use it for coarser stuff (sudex etc) too. Anyone have experience with the "HD" blade? Will it go on the 907 happily with the same hangers etc? Will I still have complete coverage across the cutting width?

I searched through the massive flail mower thread for 907 specific content but there's not much to find.

Hello Luke,

As long as you hang the new slicers making a capital Y with each/on each hanger with two knives I see no issues at all with the ford 907 flail mower rotor.

It would not hurt you to replace the hangers as well simply for safety sake and you can obtain them from Flail Master and others.

If you can get it dry enough to bale, it will keep. Getting Sudax under 20% moisture is a huge challenge, probably impossible this year.

I have been toying with the idea of growing sainfoin exclusively,
and shipping it to buyers as it has a huge tonnage proven potential
and none of the problems with alfalfa.

Have the striped bass been running or are they through the spawn already?

Can't help w/ the bass question, I don't fish and am 20 miles east of the Hudson.

Getting Sudax dry enough to bale as dry hay anywhere in the Northeast will be far more problematic than the sum total of all the "difficulties" associated with with alfalfa. Good luck!

The Sainfoin dries down quickly after its crimped, I will be growing a small test plot next year as this year is a wash in more ways than one.

Hey Luke can you give a up date on the blade's? i have a 907 as well and want a fine cut how did the change over do? and there's still not much on the 907 lol
