Tractor
kubota B6100E
Boy talk about a green newbie, I guess that would be me. I recently acquired a gently used 1972 Kubota B6100E compact tractor at what I considered a very reasonable price. Alas sans any equipment with it. I am hoping that by joining this board I can get some advice is choosing appropriate equipment and impliments for it. My wish list is larger than my wallet so I will have to choose wisely and gradually acquire what I feel I need. My wish list includes; a 42 or 48 inch rotary cutter (bush hog type, not finish mower), a disc cultivator appropriately sized to my tractor (rather small 14hp 3 cylinder diesel), a drag harrow up to 5 ft wide by up to 8 ft long, and a 48 inch built to last box blade. Yup, you got it champagne dreams and a beer budget. Any help and advice I could get will be gladly accepted and considered in making my selections. Thanks:D

Welcome here, a great deal of knowledge is to be found here. Implements, cruise your local craigslist-farm & garden. Most of my stuff came from there. Couple needed a little work and all needed paint but when you clean a piece up to paint you know what needs to be fixed. Saved a great deal of money doing it this way. IMHO some of the older stuff is built so much heavier and better than all but a few brand names on the market now. If you go look at a piece and it does not meet your expectations or the potential is not cost/time effective do not hesitate to walk away.

Forgot to address the bush hog. That I did buy new because I knew next to nothing about them. Now if it breaks I know the model and maker. Bush hogs are probably the most abused piece of equipment out there, this is not to say there are not good ones out there, I just was not comfortable in my assement of a used one.

With a tight budget, you'll be spending a lot of time on craigslist looking for used iron :)

Good luck
