Home made hitch/tool bar. 51's were economy level flex planters. No where near the supple flex frame suspension of a 70/71, but not a bad planter...Plates are same "b type" as was used with 71's, ect....(All Deere plate planters made beyond the 1920's used the same plates) Same seed hoppers and seed metering as was common on Deere planters of the day. Runner openers instead of the standard disc openers found on just about all of the 70/71's. Kinda pricey, but then again, so goes the story with any working 2-row planter these days. Seems like they were built in the 1050's and early 60's....

There's a listing for a 51 on John Deere - Parts Catalog , enter planter in the equipment search box, scroll down to 1232 -51 unit planter. Might offer them 300.00. Looks like it would clean up to be a good food plot planter, adjustable a little on row width. Do they have any additional gears for changing the population settings? Mark

What is the condition of the planter? The planter would be shipped/freighted to Allen, NE 68710, if purchased.
