A while back I bought a 24" Bobcat WainRoy bucket for a project I wanted to build and then changed my plans and went to a smaller, lighter bucket. I sold it to a guy this week and he calls me up wining that it's only 22" wide. Is there any such thing as a 22" bucket? I would imagine that it is easily 24" at the tips of the outer teeth even if it is only 22 at the sides. Just wondering. Can someone clear my head on this one. I want to treat the guy right if I did sell him a dog, but I bought it as 24" and never measured it myself.

My experience with this was that a contractor wanted a 24" ditch for footings. Some codes require that. He said my bucket only dug a 22" ditch. Who knew. I thought the same as you. Dig a ditch and put a tape on it. That is what the code guys do.

So that begs my original question. Did you buy that machine, or bucket as a 24" or were you just assuming that is what it was? Thanks in advance for your response.

It has been so long ago I don't remember. I do mostly ditching for my plumbing business, so if my feet fit beside the pipe in the ditch that's good enough for me. I also have 7 different attachments for mine, I can always find something to do the job.
