Lucknow snowblower ???

Is the Lucknow snowblower a good one? The salesman say its a step above the Meteor. I can't find a web site for Lucknow or any good pics of one. Would it be good enough for entry level commercial use? The one I MAY be looking at is a 78" with hydraulic chute rotation for $2200 new setup ready to blow snow. My main concern is the "ruggedness" of the blower frame and body. I will be cutting into plowed "side snow banks". Does anyone have pictures of a newer Lucknow blower?

Rowski, I brought a Lucknow snow blower 12 years ago. I hope they have improved since then. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
1) they had a plastic shoe to take up the slack on the gatherer chain. That was replaced with an idler gear within months.
2) the chute rotational flange froze up- 4 grease zerts tapped in fixed that.
3) I had to weld a couple short sections of pipe so the cable to rotate the chute would roll-up on the crank smoothly.
4) The gear box drainage plug threads stripped out and I run grease with a little STP in it now. It looks like the casting is very poor quality.
5) it will only throw the snow 15' because the fan has too much of a gap ad has only 3 blades and the bottom of the circular chamber wore through with gravil ( that was before I learned to get a 1-2" hard pack established) I fixed that. It helps to wax the inside of the chute.
All in all it was my poorest quality implement and taught me a lesson [img]/forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

I have a Lucknow that is three years old. By the sounds of it they made some changes since RCH got his. Mine will fit both CAT.1 and 2 3pt. hitches so it must be tough enough to handle the extra HP. There are four blades on the impeller and it will throw most snow over 50 ft. I have had good luck with it so far and have gone and widened the road with very hard banks with no problems. I keep mine in a heated shop so I have never had a problem with it freezing up on me. Attached are some photos of it on the tractor.

Thanks for the pictures and info. Sounds like you newer Lucknow blowers are improved over the older one like Rch's. I can see why Rch is frustrated with his blower. I got another quote on a Pronovost Puma Series blower for $1800USD but purchased in Canada. So we'll see what ends up happening. I would like to rent a blower before I buy it, but most dealer's don't want to do that, at least around here.

Anybody have the Puma series blower and have had any bad luck with them?
