Hey everyone. Before I get hammered for asking I did a search first. I have a Sitrex 6ft finish mower that is in need of new belts but I don't have the owners manual to see how to go about doing it. I know it needs 2 B74 belts but from my initial look at the belt system I am not sure how to go about changing. I can fumble my way around most things but figure I would ask the experts here. What is the best, easiest way to change the belts on a finish mower? Does anyone have a Sitrex 6ft owners manual online I can see or go through?

Thanks for your help,

I can't really help you with your specific model, but I did have a bush hog brand and changed the belt on it. Other than the routing of the belt the most important thing to get out of the owners manual was how much spring tension to put back on the new belt. On my model it gave a specifc measurement of the length of the spring when the proper tension was applied. Look in the book and make sure you get that correct.

Did you have to remove the gearbox to get at the belts? From the looks of it, that is the only way to change them.

On mine the only thing I had to remove is a cover over the outside pulleys. Absolutely did not have to do anything with the gearbox. Hows about a little picture of what you are working with?

I will get one loaded up this evening I can. I actually need to get the belts for it from the parts house. From looking at the scematic in the online owners manual, it definitely looks like the gearbox is going to be in the way but that is why I am asking you all as I hope someone else with more experience than me can help me along.

Thanks,

Can you post some photos of it? I too have a Bush hog finishing wower and it was pretty easy to change out the belts...

Refer to Section 6.6.4/Figure 6.9 in manual to loosen the tension on your reduction unit. There are bolts that attach the plate to the deck that the reduction unit is on. Loosen those bolts on the rear side of deck and completely remove the bolts on the front side of the deck. Now you can pry up the front of the plate to install the new belts. Secure the plate back to the deck. Adjust the belt tension per instructions. The load you need to apply is 7.5 kg or 16 lbs. The flexure (distance) is 18 mm, about 3/4". Neil
