Hey everyone,
I just picked up a NH 451 sickle mower from my local county shop. They said it was purchased new in 1998 and has been sitting for the past 7 years. After greasing everything up, I attached it to my Kioti DK45 and fired it up to cut the roadside grass and weeds. It needs some new blades and rock gaurds but still cut pretty good. The problem, when I turn and go up hill, the mower swings out (the break away I think) and in that position one gets a vibration. Any thoughts? Maybe I don't have it hooked up correctly since I don't have a manual I am just not sure. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob

The rock guards should still be good with that limited use? When your mower trips, your PTO is in a bind and will shake things up. Don't run in this position. Tighten up your mower trip pressure if needed. Manuals on Ebay cheap. Ken Sweet

Thanks Ken for the information. The local tractor repair shop told me the blades must ride on top of the guards to cut properly with a minimal gap between the blades and the guards. Some of the blades ride tight on the guards and some have as much as about 1/4" gap. I checked EBAY for a manual but only found parts manuals. Any ideas on how to tighten it up? Thanks, Bob

Tighten up blade by taking shims from under the hold down clamps or peck them with a hammer. Sight down the tips of the rock guards. The ones low probably will show up and when you determine which ones, put on safety glasses and bump those guards back in line or replace those. I have alos seen 2 or 3 rock guards running high and forcing the sickle blade off the rest of the guards. Align all. Ken Sweet
