The tailwheel assembly and gearbox kinda resemble an old modern/sunshine cutter.

when you say transfer case is loose.. do you mean the gearbox wher eit bolts tot he deck is loose? or is the input shaft to the gearbox loose?

also.. wd-40 is for removing stickerts from glass.. it's not a penetrant.. not one i'd use anyway.

pb blaster or kano labs kroil is a better product.

ps.. don't heat that lower output shaft unless you plan on replacing the lower seal in the box.

Soundguy,

The four bolts holding the gearbox are loose, and won't tighten. You can grab the gearbox and wiggle it in place. The guy who gave it to me said it had been sitting in a field for a "long time", so everything is rusted together, I'm sure.

Will look up the two products you mention. Thanks for the tip.

if the bolts threaded into the casting and are wallowed out.. then longer bolts and nuts will be needed

Hi" Frank,
Sorry it took me some time but I was a little short but thanks to the picture I think I found it I think if you check into you will agree. It was made by a company by the name of HOWSE....Seem the front 3 point are a distinct kind. Paul

Frank,
They said there is a decal on the rear deck with the model and serial number on the rear top deck ??? I would call them as the diagrams they show are for newer cutters than yours anyway all the info is on there web site I just typed in the Howse name and was directed to it . You know if it were not for the front 3pt. I would say it was a bush hog like my unit.
hope this helped. Paul
