Catagory II side arm hydraulic

I have read markct post, spencer post, mosey post about top link hydraulic. Do I understand correctly that you can get a hyd arm for top link and/or side arm? If so, it seems people are more interested in the top link than the side link. Why is that? I do alot of work with my box scraper. I very rarely change the pitch of the scraper from front to back, but I am constantly changing from side to side. Are there companies that offer the side arm hydraulic, and would the price of about $99 be the same for it as I have read in markct post for top link? And...one more...is it recommended to get the gadget so that if a hose breaks the right side won't fall?

Follow up post. I called Greenfield about the hydraulic arm, said don't make such a thing. Can anyone help?

Morning Slippy, what did you ask them for? Was it a Cat II hydraulic side arm or did you ask for a hydraulic cylinder? Here's the link to Green Manufacturing showing their hydraulic toplink.

Perhaps it's a case where people have used the hydraulic toplink as a side link?

I've never heard of such a thing, and can't really see a need for it. Moving one arm longer or shorter than the other would create a mess, as I see the whole 3-point setup. Pto, putting the implement into a tire, twisting the other arm or top link, messing up the angle of the top link... How would you use such a thing? As well, those bottom arms take a massive pull & shock load - not sure what that would do to hydraulics. The uppr link gets compression stress enough, the bottom arms are the piviot & really get slammed.

Could you describe in what way such a thing could be used?

Yeap, your right about name, it is Green Manufacturing. And yes, I did ask for hydraulic side are. I spoke to two different people there. They do have the top link, but not the side link. I now understand that the side link may have to be special order or made because of the variations in lengths amoung tractors. I have been told that Tisco is made by Woods and it has been suggested that I seek information through my dealer. I was hoping this would be easy and I could just order it as a generic accessory. Appears I was wrong.

I intend to use it to quickly make adjustments in the tilt of my box blade. I am putting in trails through my woods and constantly cranking the side arm to make the box cut deeper on the up side of the hill and shallower on the down side. When I plow snow I find that my drive is higher in the middle than on the sides, so I like to match the angle of the blade to the contour of the drive. Does a much better job. I don't think you could or would want to use it with a pto driven attachment. Hope that helps. As for the top link, I very rarely adjust it, and therefore am not interested in the top link.

As stated above, I'm not interested in the top link hydraulic, only the side arm to make easy adjustments in my box blade angle. Thanks for the picture! That side arm hydraulic cylinder is excactly what I'm looking for. Also, I only have one set of rear hydraulics, so unless I add another, I can only have one cylinder. Where did you get that, and did both cylinders come as a kit, or did you get them seperately? When people talk about a top tilt kit, do they mean just the top link cylinder and necessary parts, or both?

Tilt is the side cylinder to Top and Tilt. Finding a Cat 2 should be a lot easier that Cat 1. It is a common upgrade on that size tractor.
I purchased Cat 1 from TSC. At the customer service desk they have a catalog for Tisco. It will take someone that knows a little about using this catalog to find the parts.
Telling your dealer parts department that you want to add a Tilt Cylinder to your 3 PH may get the information that you are looking for. Be holding onto something solid when they give you the price. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Slippy, I was all confused, but saw the picture posted, & understand now. Yes I see the use for that. Didn't know anyone made a hyd cylinder for that, but i see the uses for it. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
