Got home on Sunday with new posthole digger from TSC. CountyLine is name brand but made by SpeeCo? Anyways, tried to slip on to PTO shaft on my Kubota B3200 and the D@#$%& thing wont lock all the ways on and the D@#$%& plastic guard is completely in the way.
Whomever thought of this idea should have it shoved to where the sun dont shine as my dad and father-in-law both would have said.
I don't get home in time to call the manufacturer to talk to them because different time zones.
What the he^^ is a person to do? Any suggestions????:(

First, get a good curse word dictionary cause your gonna need most of them. :p

It is just a matter of patience and learning the characteristics of your connector. It is most likely that you are releasing the button too soon or not pressing it fully when pushing the connection on. You have to get it all the way on, past the locking groove, before letting go. If it is on fully, pull it back off and the locking ring will engage the groove and it will not come off until you press the button again.

The covers make it difficult to reach easily and impossible to see, so you just have to grin and bear it and learn how it feels when it is right. Once you get the feel of it, it will become easy.

And keep it wet with some spray lube

According to the attached SpeeCo manual the drive shaft has a spring loaded pin type of connector at the tractor. Is this the type you have?

http://www.speeco.com/whitepapers/MODEL 70,24041700 , SpeeCo, Rev 1, July_2007.pdf

If so, you just need to push the pin in to get the shaft onto the PTO spline. Then you can let go and push it back until it locks into the groove. If you are doing this and it doesn't lock check to see if the plastic guard is somehow preventing it from going back far enough to engage the groove. If this is the case, trim the plastic enough to eliminate the interference and allow you to push the pin to later RELEASE the shaft from the lock groove. I don't know if your tractor has a flip up PTO guard, but they make things a little easier to hook and unhook implement drive shafts.

This has nothing to do with your problem :Make sure you filled up phd head with 80/90 oil. Most TSC Speeco have warning labels all over them saying they come shipped dry.Just trying to avoid you having another problem.

First be sure to fill the gearbox if you have not done it already.

Are you trying to atach it with the auger on the gearbox? Thats my first question.

You need to clean the male and female splines with a small wire brush and some alcohol.

After you get it all clean use some Fluid Film to lube the male and female splines and to prevent rust.

You can use some non stick cooking spray if you have it too.

What it is, it's the type of spline attachment that has a spring loaded ring around the yoke and inside it has 3 ball bearings that when the ring is pulled forward, the ball bearings are supposed to collapse back into the unit untill the driveline is in lock position then the ball bearings (under spring pressure) will act like a locking pin. Tried it again this eve and noticed the ball bearings do not want to retract like I feel they should. Any suggestions??:confused2:

First thing I did was to fill phd head with 80-90. Got that covered at least. Just seems that I just can't get drive-line spline lock to go past the ball bearings like it is designed to do. :(:(

On myTSC digger shaft, you turn the locking collar, not pull it back. The turning retracts the balls.

Well johnrex62 you were right. Got out all of my curse word books but couldn't find the right pages. So the wife told me to put the darned things away cause things like that don"t work in this world (cept maybe at work).
She always tells me to say a little prayer first no matter what the problem and the Good Lord will always calm you down first then set you down and show you what you're doing wrong. Shure nuff, thats exactly what happened. Got the problem solved. Was pushing instead of pullin. I was trying to push the plastic sleeve thinking the ball bearings would let the drive shaft on the phd, when I should have been pulling back on the metal sleeve instead causing the ball bearings to receed into the unit then slid it over the pto and locked into place just like it was made for it.:laughing::laughing::thumbsup: get er dun with the Lords help.
Thanks for all the input and suggestions guys.
