I have the bug to convert my 3 point trailer mover to a 3 point log skidder attachment. Attached is a pic of my trailer mover. It's mounted to my Kubota L3830.

I would like to add a boom to the top similar to a Wallenstein FXP20 skidding plate. Check it out here. FXP Skidding Plate - Wallenstein

I'm interested in your opinions and ideas. One concern I have is pulling too hard on the top link. But it would be no different than the commercially available Wallenstein.

I need the specs on the chain slot opening. I will either use 5/16" or 3/8" chain. Probably 5/16".

The project will be designed in AutoDesk Inventor. I'll share the progress with you.

I also plan to install a rear blade or bumper like the Wallenstein. The blade will prevent damage to the tractor and be handy if I ever use a winch with the attachment.

Thanks for any positive feedback... or negative!

Maybe this should be in the "build it yourself forum".

You would have to scale it up a bit, but I did the same thing this past spring. I don't really have a need for the plate though. Mine is just a piece of 1.5" x 1.5" x .25" three feet long to replace the top link with.

Here's a new one I made last yr. It's a drawbar, old reciever hitch, and some rectangular tubing. When I sold my B7500 last yr the guy saw the hitch I made and had to have it so this one is my new replacement. It has to be one of the handiest thing I've made.

That's a good looking rig! Do you use the chain slots to also pull with or are they just for chain storage? I also like your additional hitch with the small hole for garden tractor class implement (roller, garden cart, etc) Very nice!

Thanks, the slots are just a place to put the extra chain rather than let it drag (I got tired of wrapping it around the boom). When I sold my B7500 the guy wanted (had to have) my hitch too so I had to sketch it out and make a new one, of course I corrected a few design flaws. That plate on the bottom was a last minute add on for the little tractor stuff. This does work great, I used my last one to skid 40-50 cord of 12' logs and some whole trees.

I built this one a couple of years ago.

I welded 4 5/16 grab hooks on the top edge, the screen is 3/4 #9 expanded metal to keep the log ends away from the tractor and tucked safely away from stumps and roots.
