I have a 53 HP Case 2wd and in the beginning stages of planning to build one of these for maintaining road and level some pasture land to a smoother terrain. How wide do you guys think for this tractor setup? We are in a sandy loam soil area. I do pull a 8' cross cut disc with it and getting deep with it does give me problems

I just built one for my 18 hp Yanmar. It is 5 ft wide, and weighs with the blocks about 700 lbs. I have no trouble pulling it in 4wd both on the driveway and on a friends field.

I would suggest you would have good results with an 8' landplane grader. I built mine for the 4520 cab tractor and it pulls and pushes it with no problem. I built mine with the blades set straight and my primary use for it is smoothing out lawn and field areas. Does a good job and makes smoothing out a rough area a piece of cake. It helps to have top n tilt hydraulics too.
