I have a 2006 L2800 and am looking for a backhoe attachment and have come across a model 4690 for about 2800 dollars. Will this backhoe fit my L2800 and what else should I know about this backhoe. Thanks.

The good news: Yes, it should fit your tractor.
The not entirely good news: The reason it should fit is it's a 3 point mount backhoe, not a subframe type. The 3 point setups have limitations in strength and ease of mounting compared to the more costly subframe type backhoes. They're intended for light-moderate use, not the really hard stuff. If your need is for an occasional, mostly light-duty tool, the 4690 is a good one and you've got a good price. As long as you're not planning to use it for deepening the Panama Canal or something similar, it's a good choice.

I don't plan on any major work. Mostly around my 5 acres to plant trees and to dig up waterlines for repair and for laying irrigation lines. What would be considered heavy work. I don't want to damage my tractor.....

Removing boulders and large tree stumps is heavy work. Also, if your soil conditions involve rocks, shale and ledge, you need something that will stand up to it.

Otherwise, for landscaping work or laying a water or power line, I would think you should be OK, as long as you are careful.

Two things to be aware of:

a) Can't speak from personal experience, but I've been told that 3 point backhoes can be a bear to get mounted.

b) You'll need a reinforcing kit from Kubota for the toplink mounts on the tractor. The 3 point backhoe hookup puts a lot of stress on the tractor rear end and it's highly recommended that an additional strengthening bracket be added. There are many discussions in the Kubota Owning and Operating forum about this. Search using the keyword "4690". Here's one thread that has some images of what the reinforcing brackets look like.

Maybe if you're lucky, the seller has the correct reinforcing kit and will make it part of the sale. Otherwise, you'll be doing some business with a dealer, I suppose.
