Caroni Finish Mower from Agri-Supply

I used it today to cut a couple of acres and was very pleased with the result - very even and smooth. I like the fact that with the rear discharge you don't have clippings getting thrown onto as yet uncut grass.

While mowing, the Caroni tracks great with none of the gouging or scuff marks from deck edges or going into reverse that I sometimes get when using the Frontier rotary cutter.

I have an older Caroni (6 footer) I picked up used last year. Really love the thing, cuts like a dream. I can see that they have really improved the deck over the one that I have. They had really poor channeling for water in the model I have and it has some real bad rust spots. Also really hard to get to the grease fittings.
Thanks for the pic, if mine goes south on me I think I will get another Caroni
but I would go with the 6 foot (I am spoled now)
Good luck

BDavis,

Agri-Supply has the remote lube kit for the 6 footer (item #45892), assuming the zerk threads are the same. It is the 5 blade kit that goes for $24.95 & includes 5 extension lines & associated mounts ...

Nick

EDIT: I was wrong on the kit #, the 71" mower has 3 blades so the kit would be #45891 - $19.95 & has 3 lines w/fittings. Only the 93" unit has 5 blades...

Nikdfish, Ran a caroni 60in finish mower for more than 20 years. Was a great mower. I just wore it out, but there was nothing I wouldn't try to cut with it while it had it. Would have another, but not sold in my area now.
Only issue I had, (several times) was the tail wheels will bend the shaft pretty easy. That rear end swings pretty fast in a tight turn, and it doesn't take much to bend the shaft in the bracket. (it is possible to bend the bracket that hold front and rear wheels to mower deck also  You don't want to know how I know that) Can't tell you how many I bent over the years. LOL. They really make a track when they are bent very much... Not really a fault with the mower, just the operator problem.
Just be warned... :D Great mower's IMO. Good luck.

I believe the Kioti finishing mower is a re-branded Caroni. They are great looking mowers.

I have an old Farm King 6' finishing mower which does a good job. I rebuilt it with new wheels and spindles a year ago. After seeing the Kioti (Caroni) I sort of wish I had not done that as I would have had an excuse to buy a Kioti (Caroni).

But I'm not sure the Caroni would do any better job than my Farm King. But it does look like a more substantial mower.

I've a question for those that have the rear discharge mowers....do they cut up the grass as well as a side discharge? It would seem the grass isnt circulating in the shute as long, therefore not getting diced up before being discharged . Sort of the opposite of a mulching deck? But,then again,I guess you wouldnt have to worry about windrows. Am I off base thinking this? I'm probably over analyzing it....

RDMs can be fitted with mulching attachments: air-tunnel circular shrouds and bi-level blades that "cut twice" ...beautiful mulch, but can't mow as fast and blades are harder to sharpen. ...mine is a 7' RDM Befco
