King Kutter XB

I just picked up a brochure describing an XB series of KK implements for sub-compact tractors. Has anyone seen or used these, and what do they offer.

I haven't seen those, but Woods has also released a line for the sub-compact market. They have a 48" boxblade, 60" rake and 60" rear blade. I saw the boxblade at my dealers last week. Looked like their regular boxblade...just smaller.

The series can be found under "Turf and Grounds" and then "Residential".

I'm sure others will jump on the band wagon with KK and Woods judging by the popularity of the BX series and the JD 2210.

Seth; I have not seen or used these, but I know what they offer. They are sized for the sub-compacts. The geometry is correct and the size of the implement is matched to the tractor.
I'll give you an example. I purchased a landscape rake last year. While my BX has plenty of power to do a good job with it, the rake dwarfs the tractor. The attachment points require me to raise the 3pt hitch arms more than 1/2 way to the top in order to get the rake level.This only gives me about 4"of clearance when the rake is raised all the way to the top.
I am also interested if anyone has first hand experience with the XB or the new Woods implements.

I picked up the XB brochure at TSC about two months ago. I ordered the middlebuster but they have never been able to deliver. If it does not come in within the next couple of weeks I will try another brand. I like that they are designed to fit the sub-compacts such as my BX2200.

Saw the King Kutter XB 5' rear blade, 4' box blade, and 48" rotary cutter at Orscheln Farm and Home in Bedford, Indiana just yesterday. Prices were $169.99, $299.99 and $539.99 respectively.

I haven't found anything to speak of on the web regarding these implements, not even at King Kutter's site but I haven't checked back there in the last several days.

The box blade's box looked a good 5 inches or so shorter than a standard size King Cutter box blade. Although I am looking for a 4' box blade I will pass on the XB. With some sub-compacts the shorter height of the XB will permit higher lifting of the box blade. My JD 2210 should be able to handle a taller box blade so I am looking at other box blades particularly the BB20-48 made by Midwest..

Unlike some fo the smaller box blades for sub-compacts, the front and rear blades are not welded. They are bolted on and reversible so that is a plus.

The rotary cutter is of interest to me because I am in the market for a 48".

Quality-wise the XB implements looked about the same as the regular King Kutter "yellow" implements.

If you do a search for King Kutter XB you will find a few threads. I too am interested in the 48" rotary cutter for my BX

The XB rotary cutter is not heavy enough for real "hogging" but will do just fine for field mowing of tall grass and the occasional SMALL sapling that springs up. One thing you notice compared to the "standard" units is that it has two smaller tailwheels instead of one big one. I like that and for the intended purpose I think the XB cutter will do just fine with a BX or 2210JD. I posted some pics of them on another thread last year. For my 2410 I would wish for something similar but with a 54 inch cut. J

Hi,

I have a couple KK attachments, and I can't complain because I do believe you get what you pay for. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

The only thing I have used my 6' KK back blade for is moving some snow. I did catch a rock or two doing that.

My worry with KK is the quality of their welding. It did not look good to my untrained eye but I figured for the price...what the heck.

Here is an example of what I am talking about [see attachment]. This weld is on the back blade, where the pin drops in to lock the angle.

Notice that the weld is so poor that it did not even penetrate the steel at all on the one side. Went on more like hot glue than weld...

THis is the reason I don't think I would buy a KK rotary cutter. I'd be afraid that the welder that built my back blade would also have made the cutter I was buying!

Now I am sure that there are a lot of properly-welded KK implements out there. But I don't have a lot of faith in their quality control... [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
