I'm going to have to call you on this one! The kubota manual actually shows illustrations as to how to dig with the FEL. I don't think they would try to teach you how to do something that you shouldn't do.

Leonz, What kind of tractor and loader do you own? Where do you get this information.

A tooth bar on the bucket will make loose materials.

I disagree with this statement also. Infact, my owners manual has a VERY detailed section with pictures on how to dig sod and create a grade by getting the bucket to bite a few inches and then leveling it out

But I will mention if you do plan a lot of digging, a tooth bar is a very worthwile investment. It will dig better and be easier on equipment.

And I can only echo what others have said thusfar. About NOT ramming, Load evenly, and dont back-drag with bucket dumped beyone the 15 degrees mentioned.

The only thigs I will ad are
    1. DONT push (like backfilling a trench) with the bucket dumped all the way.
    2. Be mindful of bucket position when lifting high. It is easy to dump objects and material back on yourself and the tractor if you are curled ALL the way back and raise to MAX height. And along the lines with this, dont raise the loader any higher than you need to.

You know, I was always "skeptical" about how useful a FEL was for years. Most old ag tractors and their aftermarket add on FEL's were only for loose materials. They lacked the sub frame and mechanical strength to do digging and stuff.

Now, look at all the small utility tractors with the bucket and backhoe. Heck, just watch some Bob the Builder! These are designed to dig. My little Kubota digs just fine, and I haven't noticed any twisting or bending of the loader arms or frame. The bucket could be made out of heavier metal, but none of the joints or connection points look stressed. I think if you are careful, digging really isn't a problem. I also think that the small size/weight, limits the amount of pressure you can put onto the FEL. You just have to be sane with it.

I've done all that this week alone! Would have been quicker to just list what can be done.

Does this mean we shouldn't get a running start and ram that 12' wide 10,000lb stump with the bucket raised midway like the Youtube Video shows?

Is this always a no-no, or does it matter if the machine is in "float"? Obvously it would take some serious skill to "float" with the front wheels off the ground
