Not talking about a stop but rather counterweight of the tire opposite the direction of roll. If it is very heavy it would counteract the roll force.

You and SPYDELK are both referring to inertia...the heavy wheel (filled tire) providing a resistance to the roll...or, once past a certain point, adding to the roll.
Speed (of the tractor) and topography are variables to consider.

Dont forget gravity[force]. Overbalance the down vector and you go over.

Agree but my point was that lateral counterweight either front or back is more important than front/rear weight distribution. Certainly dynamic forces are also critical in most rollovers too.

Would you have two lateral counter weights? If so, wouldn't they cancell each other out? The one on the low side adding to the roll the same amount the one on the high side is counter acting?

I think you, IslandTractor and SPYDERLK are all suppositioning a side rollover.
I'm not sure what you meant by "two lateral counterweights". I think Island Tractor and SPYDERLK are using the filled rear tires as the "counterweight (since that's the most frequently installed weight on a tractor).
So, considering operating across a slope and the front axle pivots due to the shift in the center of gravity (downslope) and the pivoting is fast enough to add momentum that the weight of the (upslope) filled tire cannot counteract; the downslope filled tire (the "low side" as you described it) would be of little value. All that lower tire ("lower counterweight") would do is act as one of two (the other being the front tire) pivot points. Don't confuse these pivot points with the front axle's pivot...two different points.
One thing that may inhibit the side roll is the tractor's solid rear axle.
This is really simplifying a scenario, however. We're not taking in account the weight (mass) of the tractor, velocity, angle of slope and (I'm sure)other dynamics I'm not thinking of as I type this.

I have confused you. The lateral counterweights I am talking about are just the loaded front tires. I'm not talking about an outrigger or anything like that just the extra weight associated with loaded front tires.

Filled "front" tires?? Not too common...filled tires on the front.

I know. For road work it would be hard on the axles etc but for working on a slope it does contribute to stability. Trade off. Great place for removable weights.

Wouldn't loader front tires be as common as front weights? I don't use either.

Loaded tires are cheaper but not removable.
