Hey List,

Just a quick question for y'all. I have a DK40 HST tractor, and I'm looking at a box blade. Will my 40hp tractor pull a 6 foot box blade?

Is wider better than more narrow? ...

Thanks

I looked up your tractor on tractordata.com. It says that your machine is 64" wide so I would get a 6' box blade to cover the tracks. You might want to measure and confirm that number.

I've used a 6 foot on a 30 hp 2wd with no problems, with the understanding uphill with a full blade resulted in wheel slippage. So depending on conditions whether your tractors a 2 or 4wd, terrain variables, whether you have loaded tires/wheel weights, and so on, you can use a 6 foot, though perhaps not to full benefit. The advantage of the wider blade though is getting it out past the tires so you have the ability to work closer to obstructions while the tractor remains at a distance away from objects.
strictly from a horespower sense 40 is more than enough to work with a 6 footer, just keep in mind the variables listed above.

I would go with the 6' ... will cover your tracks ... if you start to spin out just lift it up some.

I run a 6 foot BB on my TC33, no problems

I have 9 ft, 2300 lb blade on the back of my Kubota L5030 HSTC right now lol. Works really well actually!

Thanks Folks !!

I'm watching Craigslist now .. not a lot of box blades/scrapers on there now ... but I'll keep my eye open.

Hey slowzuki, I'd love to see a pic of a 2300 lb box blade ... that thing has got to be a monster!!!

Thanks again everyone.

6 foot would be the right size for you. I use a 6 foot one on my CK35, a 5 foot would be a better size for me but got a good deal on this one used. :)
