There is no video of this rake in action(yet), We do carry replacement tines, and as soon as we have pricing information on them we will post it here, but more importantly there have been no reported broken tines yet due to the way we install the tines without having to weld them. Thanks. I have several attachments from you guys (and love my compact PHD from you), and will be ordering a straw rake. I like your stuff. I just want to be sure I can get tines reasonably IF they do break. Scott H.

We live in a fir, pine, cedar forest. We have no lawn and the ground is somewhat uneven. The needles, branches, etc. accumulate on bare ground. How well would the pine straw rake work under these conditions?
Will the uneven ground make it difficult to rake?

I have used the pine needle rakes as much as anyone on the forum and find they do a good job under most conditions. On uneven ground you can spill some needles but not often, the rake does a good job of following the contours. For instance you can rake directly across a small sapling stump and still carry the needles with you, might leave a handfull of them at the stump. In the mountains where I do most of my work the rake does a good job of gathering the needles while most rocks will pass through the tines.

My current rake is a 6' Lienbach rake from Ted pictured below, it has earned its keep for sure. I will be buying another rake to cut down to 54 inch width and will buy a new 72 inch rake for next year, both with the replaceable tines. From my experience the replaceable tines are a worthwhile benefit as I have had three tines break off at the weld on my existing rake.


Last year I bought the x749 and rake to clean up pine needles on several properties I maintain. Makes a very manueverable setup and has met my expectations. Since most pine needles would obviously be under the trees choose the width that will fit between them. I plan on one a couple of inches wider than the mower and a wider one for other cleanup jobs. With the mower deck removed I can bunch the needles into large piles to load easily. The grass isn't damaged with this rake either, in the pictures below the pine needles hadn't been raked in previous years before I took on the yard and had just about killed off the grass. With two rakings a year the grass is starting to come back.
