Ron the battery box on a BX25 is 7.125"W x 9"Long x 9"Tall
Width is prob better at 7"
Height can vary some but 9" is where the top starts to radius in, I believe.
Length is 9" hard. I need to pull the battery and see if it can push in more somehow so as to perhaps take a 10" yellow Top Optima.

Heck for alls I know, till I have one in hand a yellowTop may work, just add a floor plate or grind off the lip,
providing the mesh cover clearances. Anyone have a yellow top, umm, D34 D35 Optima? Wait,
a D35 yellow Top Optima will fit and is 620CCA, a D34 is 870CCA but 10' long.

HA! only 30CCA difference from what 'my" winch calls for minimum CCA's on the D35.
I bet it would work for ocassional use...

The OE battery is 540CCA, and about 8" long, there IS room for a bigger (longer) battery I believe.
Need to make sure the mesh cover does not intrude into that space.

A 9000# winch demands 650CCA minimum battery. A guy could buy a winch that needs 540CCA or less and
perhaps call it good. (well, not have an under-rated battery)

There are a LOT of 650+ CCA batteries but they are usually 10" long plus.

Who has a lot of time today to research out a 650CCA+ battery that is 7Wx9"x9" :D

I read a "traction battery" is best for a winch...???

If a guy added a front and rear 2" receiver hitch to his BX25 a guy could EASILY make
a bullet-proof, raming speed battery-box holder and get more battery, plus ballast .

Must find matching awesome BX25 front and rear receivers I like!

If a guy never pulls off his BH, I think there is a ton of room inside it, under your feet for a battery and
then a winch out the front .

W/O a backhoe, w/ the 2" Receiver Battery Box trick, a guy could mount the battery up front or rear
and same for the winch as he pleases. Perhaps a QD electrical cable (Anderson connectors) and
hook up as needed.

With all the time I have on my hands, I think this is doable...

Ron you could easily add a 2" receiver hitch to the rear of your BX25 and simply plug in
a winch, on and off as needed. It is way low, it is soild and you can use that steel for
something else, like a "multiple" log holder/ bulkhead.

Artisan,

My problem with electric winches for pulling logs around the forest and to the wood lot is that the cable capacity (70') and that they are only for intermittent, not steady use; hence, my plan to use a PTO winch. 300" of 3/3 cable for the Surplus Center one and continous pulling as long as the engine runs. I have a 6 ton electric I use on my big 1 ton truck for which I have a 160A alternator and two 877CCA Batteries in paralell. It draws 350A fully loaded. That will do for any thing a smaller winch on the tractor would do.

Mostly for my notes;

Interstate battery #MTP-35 is a 640CCA battery and it is 9"L x 6-7/8'W x 8-3/4"Tall

Artisan has done a lot of brainstorming and inovations for his BX25. I am doing some of the same. Does anybody know how much overdesign is built into the BX25 FEL system. I need to increase lifting capacity if possible to be able to lift a pallet full of firewood. I am working on an attachment to use in place of the FEL bucket that moves the leverage almost 2feet closer to the tractor. Probabkly not enough. I have no idea how the lifting capacity is calculated except for the hydraulic system, the fulcrum point and leverage factor is beyond me. I have considered going up to 3" cylinders for the lift and 4" for the curl; but, not sure the FEL frame will withstand the increased force. I can lift a pallet of wood with the 3PT hitch but it does not lift high enough to put into a PU bed.

All you experts or wannabe experts out there; any brilliant ideas? Maybe some one at Messick's can weigh in on the overdesign factors of the FEL frame.

You could make a pallet rack about the same height as the pickup bed, then make pallet forks that would work at those levels. You might be able to just move your lower pins and make a new top link attachment point, depending on how yours is build. It wouldn't work to set the pallet on the ground, but that can be avoided using the higher rack.

OK, Here are shim part numbers to bump up pressure on a BX25.
I will not do it till warranty is out, ehh mate?
You need a pressure gauge as well. I will get you those part numbers next.

Here are the pressure gauge parts list, I have yet to buy them,
I am quit sure it is the correct stuff.
I got enough parts to be able to check pressure w/ a female QD
end and plug in a Male x male into the female QD so I can go
hollywood with it, in other words I can go both ways w/ those parts.
NO MORE DISCUSSION ON THAT! LOL

OK, there ya go, several days of research in one tidy package.
Now will someone bump the pressure up to EXTREMES and show us
just how tough these FEL's are please? :)

Another scenario I have ponder'd and found a $olution to,
regarding lifting fire wood w/ a BX25, is employing stackable, wire frame /
wire mesh basket style pallets. They want
a LOT of money for them even used. I have found them for
as little as $75.00 EA but the company is a broker and
they REFUSE to give you the address of the units for fear
they will get cut out of the deal. So you HAVE to pay
shipping even if it is 1 mile away and buy w/ bad pics.

Perhaps some 36" x 36" x 30" Wire Basket style palletts would be
perfect but so much money. I mean I would want like 18 or
more of them.

I made my own but 1/2 full of wood is about alls my lil BX25
will handle. Bumping up the pressure 3-400lbs will help a LOT.

Here is the wire cage I built utilizing Pallet Rack Wire Frame Shelves.
To heavy, but dang it was fun to make.!
