Artisan, all good ideas. How much can you shim up the the pressure to? The shop manual indicates top pressure of 1849 PSI at wide open throttle. The existing hoses are only rated for 3,000#. By my calculations raising the pressure to 2500# gives a force increase of 1500# wheras doubling the cylinder diameter increases the force by over 9000#, Gets back to how much force can the FEL frame support? On pallets, I use junk ones I get for $0. I use fiberglass strapping from Northern Tool to keep on the pallet. Works with the 3PT to move from point X to Y but not to load higher than its limit. The shop manual lists all the parts and procedure for checking pressure.

BXpanded sells a Hydraulic System Pressure Test and Adjust Kit Hydraulic Pressure Tester. The kit comes with instructions on how to test your pressure, a guage with quick connector and an assortment of shims.

    Thanx thavil!

Ron I guess we should look for the weakest point first if
possible ehh? That will be the achilles heal.

I would venture to say you could bump it up a LOT so
long as you are always level and lift and curl w/ forces
always square to the world, the issues will be using the
corner of the bucket perhaps to pry something and
the offset forces start bending stuff. The ocassional
mega rock on one side deal or it slips to the side.

If you look farther into ACHINBAC post(#24) he also built some stiffening rods to run from grille gaurd to FEL frame. Said it helped out considerably.Im guessing at 2000psi you may get up to 900lb lift of the FEL???
Oh and you can get the hydro gauge, hose, NPT fittings from Surplus Center much cheaper than McMaster Carr. And then purchase the QD from dealer along with shims.

How about some of these. Ones with damaged or messy tanks can sometimes be found for low prices. Cut the top out, remove tank, load with firewood. Make sides lower if needed to keep weight down.

Bruce I have considered them indeed, less tanks.
The one you have pictured w/ a closer mesh looks good.
A BX will not pick up one of those full of wood...

Hmmm, I wonder if a guy could cut them down, and still stack them.

Yes Chris, indeed, I saw that. Thinking outside the box he was!
I have pondered it many a time in the past couple of weeks wondering
if a guy did the same kind of thing from a front 2" Receiver hitch would
it actually be stronger since the BX25 "guard' will probably flex a tad.
That's a great thread. Lots of goodies.

    Artisan,

You never know when one of our bright ideas will become the catch 22. One thing I am concious of always is to not corner load the FEL bucket as I have seen that frame twist when with a large rock on one side. That is why I did not put chain hooks on the corners, asking for a twist. I always lift slung loades from the center at the curl cylinder. If the BX had two curl cylinders that would take out a lot of the twist effect. Have to work with what you have. The original dealer I bought from (since dropped) sratede that if I make significant or mods not recommended by kubota to not bring it to him when it breaks even after warranty. He is a seller not a servicer, that is why I now gow 40 miles instead of 15. I'll have to try the shim route first. Right now, too busy doing work.
