I just pick this mower up, the Gentleman I got the mower from thought it was probably a New Idea sickle. I tried doing google search of New Idea, New Holland, and Ford sickle mower pics but have not been able to find any thing that looks close. There are no tags or marking that I can find on this piece. Any help with the brand or model of this cutter would be greatly appreciated. Thank You Desmond Doyle

I am thinking it is a John Deere, to the right of the chain to the yoke there is an additional hole were another chain would connect and then travel across to the far pulley on the right of the PTO pulley and then travel down to the lower pulley and forwards and possibly up to the tractor so that when the unit is lifted up--it will pull on the chain causing the sickle to raise up.

The number appears to be John Deere number as well, I had a JD M-51 that took me about 6 months :mur:to figure out what it was :cool2:and learned some last summer,,,I'll do some searching for ya and get back to you. :drink:

Where are you located, saberdd? I see the license plate and dealer plate frame on your truck. Looks my area of NY.
On the one circular part with a number stamped on it, there appears to be a little JD green. Maybe someone on the JD part of this forum could help you out.
Welcome to the forum. You'll find lots of helpful folks here.

Well coming up short on JD stuff, there are two other green implements, ill check in all their part numbers,,,,,,,,did find some very close part number matches in JD but no exact and picture description was not close how ever there was one that was close for the pitman but number was completely off, I searched all original part numbers,,,,found 336,,,335,,,and 338  still on it for now

(EDIT)--- I was just looking at your pictures again,,,,,,I see part numbers on the rock guards and also on the bar its self, I am not 100% sure of the rock guard numbers, please post, will help a lot,,,finding a few different implements that use the same parts and weed them out from there is my goal .
