Hey guys.... Had to wait for my wife to leave for work before I could go look at a plow this morning  I found this Ford 2/14 with trash guards and the tail-adjustment lever. I bought it - $250...

I used the instructions you guys provided for setting up a plow and even though the ground was really too wet, I just couldn't resist giving it a try before I hid it in one of the sheds... (It can get rough when you retired early and the wife is still working . So after I got the plow put to bed a favorite question my wife if fond of popped into my head: "So, what'd you do today?" "Oh nothing... Took $250. out of our savings and bought an old plow" "Yes... the icemaker is still broke..." So I would have something to say, I vacuumed the whole house... Man, that's not as fun as plowing

Anyway, I couldn't figure out how to post pics here, so I put a handful on a webpage... BTW - the plow did a great job even though the clay was wet and heavy....

Anybody know when these plows were made? Did I do ok on the price?

Probably made in Dearborn, Michigan. ??
Edit: Sorry, I thought I read "where".

Excellent price...that plow looks to be in very good shape. Those typically bring from 500-600 or more in that shape.

I think you did well on the price, I bought an old MF 2 bottom last year for $200, but it needed a fair bit of work. As to age, your guess is as good as mine.

When they were red they were Dearborn, blue were Ford. In total they were made for many decades with very few design changes.

I've got one tucked away in the barn. I don't believe mine has the adjustment lever and I don't think, it has the trailing wheel. I'll have to look tomorrow, if the snow isn't too deep.

The width of cut lever wouldn't be used too very often, particularly with one tractor; once it's set, it's set. Rolling landsides were an option not typically found on older fully mounted plows. Lot of variations over the years but the basic design survived a very long time. Heh, heh, snow eh?

I don't know, my mid-40s ferguson plow and many others have a rolling landside.

That looks like a later model Ford 101 with the shear bolt trip beams. I'd guess late 60's or early 70's, and probably repainted from blue. They usually run at least 450-500 when you find them. The high scrap prices have cut down the old plow population in recent years.

Snowed for awhile yesterday, but today is nice.

My plow is nearly the same, as the OP's ... with three exceptions. My plow is blue, which I either painted to match the original or just selected Ford Blue. My plow doesn't have the adjustment handle, but has a threaded adjustment device. I don't have the coulter blades with mine, although the holes are there.
