True - the movement is limited by the depth of the hole in the female end and length of the rod on the male end. Snip off 2" off the male end, you will bottom out 2" deeper. However, you may still have to cut 2" off the female end to allow it to move it deeper.

I do have to confess that it jumped out of the clamps once or twice, but I still have all my fingers /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. It really is a good piece of equpment (if you discount the wimpy paint job /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) Does make an awfully viscious sound when the blades wind up to speed, scared the hell out of me when I first heard it, just plain evil. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I am in the learning stage on hooking up the kingkutter top link myself, but that will change shortly.I've done a little cutting this far with it and I now have a chain instead of the top link. This set up works better than the top link and u piece.I may not even use that if the rear of the cutter does'nt want to follow the ground.Just get a piece of 3/8 chain and a couple of clevis connectors that the pin will go through the link,it needs to be long enough so when the cutter is set up a your mowing height, there is slack in it.It will depend on how high you have to pick it up,for me ,not far,and it hitting or getting to close to your back tires. The idea is to get the mower to follow the ground contour with out the back being off the ground. The chain allows this better than the toplink and u piece. You don't want to just use your top link because if you go through shape enough dip your going to break something ,toplink or attaching brackets. The chain also allows you to pick it up,you just got to play with the setup. The only thing I can figure that the top link connection on the kutter is for is to pick it up,some will say that it keeps the mower from flipping[backend first] over,I ,for what I will be using it on,do not believe this a concern.Besides it would hit your tractor dullside up before it could hit you. There is a lot of stuff in this message board that has been said about exactly what you are talking about, you should try typing in a few keywords and do a search on this, this has been on a lot of peoples minds in the past, ther are even some good pictures.
