I was given this hydraulic pull type disk, it had been taken apart in the edge of a field to replace some bearings about 12 to 15 years ago and had never been reassembled. Took me about year to find all the pieces, found some and had to buy some. I'm pretty sure it is back together right, but when you lift the disk all the way up the front blades are barely off the ground. I'll try to get some pics during the day to show it. My thoughts are the wrong cylinder is on the disk (although it looks to be original JD cylinder), wrong size tires, or wrong size blades. It does not appear that the mounts for the cylinder has been moved, so I think a cylinder with a longer stroke would pick it up higher.

Does anyone know where I can get an owner's manual?

should have a adjustment on the tongue looks like a big screw with a handle it is to tilt the disk front to back to level cut, cut deeper ect it could have been removed but is probably rusted together if it is still there

As I recall most of the older disks like that came less cylinder (see the bar link on one of the 2 disks on the Tractorhouse.com link. The customer/dealer needed to supply their own cylinder so there is a probability that your disk doesn't have the proper length cylinder. The Case disk I bought at auction had a cylinder that was too long. When extended all the way, it let the tires hit the front gangs and when raised all the way, the tires wouldn't raise high enough off the ground when the cylinder was fully retracted. These are some things to watch for when you check out your cylinder to see if you need a different length. Maybe yours has stops that will prevent the tires from going too far - mine relies on the cylinder to limit travel both ways. The crank for adjusting the hitch angle for proper pull - completely rusted solid on my disk but fortunately it is rusted at an angle that pulls right with my drawbar height. I get consistent cutting depth between the front and rear gangs.
