Snow is on its way and I had an old plow sitting around I bought for $100 3 years ago. I have gotten sick of the bucket and decied to finally do this thing.

I redid everyting out of scrap metal and only reused the mold board. I really want to have no more than $500 in this thing.......you can't count the new Hypertherm 45 I bought to help withthe fab. I think the plow is a really old meyers but am not sure???????

Plow - $100
Metal and Pins - $20
Cylinder, hoses, and Fittings - $120
JD hooks and pins - $40
sand blast and powder Coat - $200

Off to powder coat...................will post new pics again when back. :licking:

Pictures are from the middle of the Fab

Looks Great!

I would add a second spring to keep the plow from "tripping" too easily.

Are you going to be adding angle cylinders?

I have them on my plow and they use the same hydrualic circuit as my 4 in 1 bucket.

On a side note, to help with warmth while plowing, I added a 12 volt outlet next to the seat of my tractor so the wife could lug in her heated motorcycle jacket liner and gloves. Now i can't get her off the tractor after a snow storm!

Good luck.

Having made one of these I can tell you two things to consider.

The plow needs to be able to lift up on it's own, to accommodate rising and falling terrain. This means some sort of hinge that allows it to lift if it needs to. It could be as simple as 2 pins where it attaches to the mounting frame on the FEL. Most builders are doing this with a chain lifting the plow, much like they use on a truck.

The plow needs to be able to rotate a few degrees, this allows one side or the other to raise or drop some, and allow the blade to follow the drive when it pitches one way or the other, ahead of the tractor. This can be accomplished by simply having some slop in the mounting area where it pivots left or right.

If you have allowed for these, please disregard. If not, it will work much better if you modify it to do so.

Understood about the hinge but I elected to do like some others and float the entire FEL.

What do you intend to do about the arms of the FEL going down to the ground, when you float it then?

I did like 4shorts and extended the a frame back about a 8 inches and put skid shoes on it. Most all the manufacturers make them this way minus the skid shoes. I see the pros and cons both ways........just liked this way best.

Stand by for more pics when I pick it up Friday from powder coat.

Okay. I can see that working well, if your plowing hard surfaces.

My drive is all gravel, so I did things to try and not disturb the gravel.
