Can anyone give me any good comparisons between a Herd seeder and a Landpride. I found a Herd model 96 and a Landpride unit and they both run 325.00 however the landpride has more holding space. Is there something else I might be missing .. I want this for seeding grass and fertiziler.

Not a bad price. I was quoted $425 for either (In New England). I ended up with Landpride as the Herd M96 wasn't recommended for sand or salt spreading. Herd does offer other models specifically for winter use.

Spreading range

Landpride 44-890 # per acre

herd 2-500# per acre.

From my research, the Herd is the better setup for seeding. The landpride lets you put down more material per pass. So, think about your primary use, are you seeding often, or just to get a field established? My primary use will be fertilizing the grass (~200# per acre) liming (up to 2000# per acre? - waiting on soil test). Secondary is seeding & spreading sand/salt in winter time.

Hope this helps
