Rubber edges for back blade and front end loader?

Hsllo - I am trying to work out what to put on my 5' back blade (on my JD 1050) to keep it from causing damage to a new driveway of asphalt (which is has slopes and valleys for drainage) plus stone blocks at the edges that are held in place with cement and not entirely smooth. The heavy rear blade and my front end loader could do some real damage without some softer edge or a rubber shoe to keep the metal from direct contact with the driveway.

I am going back to the discussion that is already on your site to review it some more.

I can obtain some old tires but what can you use to cut them up?

Conveyor belt. Look in yellow pages or google suppliers in your area.

I use a 1' strip cut from a horse stall mat. The height allows me to flip it upside down when 1 edge wears out, although it's on the 3rd year and doesn't show much wear.

Do you drill holes in it and bolt it on?

how about some of that 1/2" thick rubber horse stall matting.

another idea for the back blade is get some pvc plastic pipe and cut a slot on one side then slide it over the cutting edge of the blade. You could prolly do the same to the loader also.

might cut a couple slots in it for a bailing wire retainer.. but should work..

Ed, here is how I did it to my fel blade. The rubber came off a local county snowplow. Real tough material, especially to cut with a utility knife. Works great though as I plow several neighbor driveways that are all covered in blacktop. No damage issues using this.
