Re: Recommend a rotary tiller brand and size
(KingKutter II) thats what I have been using for the past 6 yrs. never had a break down, and yes it is a grea driven tiller, if this one dies or missing I'll replace it with the same thing. can't go wrong with the KingKutter II.

Re: Recommend a rotary tiller brand and size
I used to have a Bush Hog chain driven tiller and never a problem with it. There have been lots of discussion threads about tillers. The dealers who sell gear driven tillers all say that's best, and they undoubtedly know more about them than I do. But in spite of the many threads on the subject of tillers, I don't recall a single post by anyone who had a tiller he didn't like. In other words, it seems to not make any difference which brand you buy as long as you get the right size for your tractor and terrain.

I read the last 6 months of threads on tillers before posting and arrived at kk and land pride being 2 of the better brands but like you said; it's about the fit to your tractor. Thanks for the input! Just joined website and impressed with hands on knowledge verses showroom knowledge you get from some dealers.

Re: Recommend a rotary tiller brand and size
I have to agree with Bird, everyone seems to like what they have so fit is more important.
I have a 31pto hp tractor with a Howard 66" wide tiller that has been a great tiller, very tough. I also have a 72" deere 673 tiller which tills deeper and faster but requires more power. All that said I agree that the King Kutter II is a very good tiller with a lot of bang for the buck.
I would choose either the 66" or 72" tiller for your tractor. If the ground is hard and starts to lug the tractor down you can always pick a lower gear. For most of the sandy loam soil you should be able to run a 72" tiller without issues.
