Box Scraper King Kutter or Wallace

I know there may be better stuff out there but I am wanting something local and now as this is a business purchase that I need by the end of the year.

Tractor is a JD 4200 (about 27hp?) with front wheel assist

Box Scraper options

King Kutter 5' $589.99
King Kutter 4' $549.99

another place is getting out of box scrapers and only has 1 left which he want to move

Wallace 5' $599.00 but the manager claims he will discount heavily (whatever that means) to move it.


The King Kutter looks a little "tougher" to me but I won't claim to be an expert on box blades............

You certainly get a lot more rippers with the King Kutter. That would be a factor if you plan to use them. Hint: the more you use them the more you will like them.

There are a few other differences in construction but it doesn't appear that they are "make or break" issues.

Get what you feel comfortable with if the heft of the metal is the same or similar.

Can't tell from the photos but make sure the cutter blades are reversible (two cutting edges when one gets worn) and whether the backside has a cutting blade as well as the front. That would make a huge difference in choice.

I have the 4' KK model. It is rugged and works very well behind 22 HP. A 5' blade should do well in your situation.

Looking at the King Kutter website it says that the 5' model comes with 5 rippers (the above may be a picture of a 6' model). So I think it is 4 rippers with the Wallace and 5 with the King Kutter.

It appears all of the essentials are on the King Kutter. That may be the way to go. That is, unless the Wallace is "super" discounted.

If you plan to use it heavily then you'll have to determine which one is better constructed. It is no fun buying an implement and then wishing you had bought something else.

I've got a KK 5'Box blade and have beat the !@$#%!!! out of it on roads in the woods. I maintain ofer a mile of skid roads on my property with lots of rocks. Have had absolutely no problems. IMO can't go wrong! Happy grading. . . John :thumbsup:

I bought a KK 6' boxblade as part of a package deal, but sold it to my neighbor since I already had one. However, in that deal I also bought a KK 6' grader blade and 6' landscape rake. I am very satisfied so far.
