Well Arrow, I'm not telling them how to run their business, I was just talking about a good way to avoid selling ME anything was to ignore me because I wouldn't give them information that I don't consider necessary to buy something from them, or in this case just to tell me who sells their product for them.

By the way the only "inference" I was making was that I wasn't asking to buy some secret government technology, just a tractor attachment.

Hey Alpha Dog, hate to say it but I'm kind of glad you were frustrated enough to post. I don't know if I'd have ever found out about these! I've written them to find out if they have a version of the BC-3000 for my loader and if there are any dealers near me....

Couple of things worry me about them, Brush would be much closer to the front grill of the tractor. If you are only getting long logs like they show, might not be a problem. Trying to pile up lots of logs, might be a problem, too since you don't have a long reach.

I would also worry about twisting the loader without the frame of the grapple or bucket... Looks like a great idea, I wonder why they don't just make a frame out of it to tie both sides together?

I looked at these as an alternative to running hydralic lines for a grapple and liked the concept, but decided that it really wasn't what I wanted.

I forget where, but I'm guessing that I saw some video clips of them in action on youtube that really convinced me that they where too limited in what you can do with them.

Good luck, and let us know if you get them.

Eddie

I was thinking this too, but my BX24 has a single cylinder for the curl, so I'm thinking if they make a version for it the two grapple ends would have to be tied together which I think would help keep the loader arms stabilized (along with the cross member on the arms the cylinder is on.)

That's what is attractive to me also - not having to add remotes and run extra lines...

Your inference was attempting to make an association to a business acting a certain way which you thought was "high handed" behavior when nothing like that has been necessarily demonstrated by them in your initial post. I gave them all of my information and was never called by anyone there. You obviously have different criteria as you even refuse to give your name in the "About me" section of this very forum. As I stated before, it is my opinion you are pre judging them based on your own assumptions and not facts but somehow think that is good enough to spread it all in this thread. I for one am simply not buying it is all I'm saying.

But why should anyone have to provide a bunch of private information just to get a list of local dealers? It's great that they didn't misuse the personal information you provided (so far as you can tell,) but you couldn't know that until you gave it to them -- then it's too late. Sounds like to me that all alpha dog wanted to do was find a dealer and get a good look at the product before maybe buying it. I have many regrets from having provided "too much information" to various businesses, so I understand his reluctance and suspicion in this case. It does appear that they are unwilling to deal with you unless you do it their way, and that seems kinda "high-handed" to me. But to each their own....

I have to say that I wasn't real happy about having to fill out their web form and provide my personal contact information (name, address, phone number, email address - all mandatory) to get their dealer locations. I'm trusting them not to misuse my information, including passing it along to any third parties, as their site promises.

So far, all I've gotten back is a "canned" email thanking me for my interest and letting me know that a Westendorf representative will be contacting me soon regarding my Brush Crusher inquiry. It then provides their toll free number - in case I want to call them instead I guess. I'm hoping when my inquiry is assigned to a representative they will just email the info as I'm not looking forward to a call from a sales rep...

Seems it is pretty standard practice for companies to include a listing of their dealers right on their web site, especially if they do not sell direct to consumers and you need to make contact with a dealer to purchase. Can't help but believe it's a potential for more sales as some folks are not going to be comfortable with this procedure and end up walking away.

I'll agree with arrow that they likely are not intending to come across as "high handed" or "my way or the highway", but to some it could certainly come across that way, intentional or not.

I agree.......I wouldn't have furnished my personal information to them either. It's none of their business WHO I am and How to get in contact with me.

Quick update - my inquiry must have been assigned to a sales rep. I received a pleasant email response. I had asked two questions:

1) do they have a BC-3000 for my loader (Kubota LA 240 on a BX-24)?
2) are there any dealers in my general area?

Dear xxx,

We currently do not have a fit for your Kubota loader; however if you would like I can send you a Brush crusher measurement form that you can complete and I can forward this to my engineering department and we can see if we would have a fit for your Kubota loader. Please give me a call or shoot me an email and let me know if you would like me to send this to you.

Please email me or call me toll free at 1-877-423-0070 ext xxx if you have any additional questions. My direct email is xxx@westendorfmfg.com.

Sincerely,

xxx xxx

Like I said, a very pleasant email and no phone call to deal with. However, I still have no idea if there is a dealer anywhere near me. Since I had to include my address in the info they required it would seem that they should be able to answer if there is a dealer in my area or not. Is the dealer list top secret???

Since I would have to go through a dealer to purchase anyway, I'd sure like to know who to work with. I'd think the chances are good the dealer could help me with the measurement form, may well have experience in getting the correct specs/measurements from doing other fittings.

Well, not going to be wanting one until spring anyway. I have time to think if I want to pursue this any further...
