I'd like to ask for opinions on choosing between these 2 (or other?) units. The pasted quote below is from the Freedom-hitch "testimonials" section. I'm assuming that the "something...similar" may have been the Jiffy-hitch.

Thoughts, anyone?

Larry, I can't afford the "quick" hitches of either brand right now, but I've gotten the literature, price lists, and videos of both the Freedom Hitch and the Jiffy Hitch. Now I think either one would be pretty darned handy, and since I've never used either, I can't say for sure that one's better than the other, and I don't have anything bad to say about either. So . . ., all I can say about them is that if I were about to buy one, I'd buy the Freedom Hitch. It not only looks better to me, but it also costs less.

I have neither. Like Bird I ordered and viewed both mfg. videos. I would buy the Freedom Hitch over Jiffy. Don't remember price but I take Bird's word for it. Freedom just looks better built!! Will consider purchase after I see how much Tax relief Mr. Bush is going to give me & after I finish about 12 other costly projects/purchases.

Can't say I know much about either hitch beside the fact that I would like one. From past conversation on the forum the problem with some systems seems to be there ability to fit varied width implement mountings. I would sure check all I wanted to mount and see that it would work on everything. Guess I would go with the Freedom hitch because it is so highly spoken of by people I trust in this group.

If you have a frame mounted backhoe (which needs removal of the 3pt arms to attach), does the freedom hitch make this a more difficult task? Removing the 3pt arms that is?

I was pretty hot for the Freedom Hitch (or similar) until I got the hydraulic tip and tilt setup. Now I don't even think about the quick hitch setup. It always looked a little bulky to me anyway. With the rear hydraulics, it only takes me a couple of minutes to hook up any of my 3pt implements because all three points can be controlled independently. And, like someone else mentioned, I always use a pointed pry bar that stays with my tractor all the time.

I sure hope I agree with you, Larry, since I've ordered the components to put the hydraulic tip 'n tilt on my tractor, and can't afford the Freedom Hitch./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I have now used the Freedom Hitch for over a month. Works great. My property is hilly and now I do not have to worry about finding a level spot to dump an implement. I am very happy with it.

Rick, you have a situation in which the Freedom Hitch is really worthwhile. And while I'd like to have one for the convenience and speed, I have one big advantage over your situation that makes the Freedom Hitch more of a luxury than a necessity. ALL my implements are indoors on a concrete floor, and I don't suppose I've ever taken one of mine off anywhere else.

Grrr!!! So you like to spoil your tractor and implements. Sheds, concrete floors......I bet you even provide total climate control with hepa filters???/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. Bottled water for the radiator?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

You are lucky and that concrete level implement storage sure makes it easy. Right now most of my implements are under tarps and about 3 feet of snow. The tractor is doing fine under one of those frame tents you buy at COSTCO. At least its not out in the snow./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
I am not sure if I would have sprung for the Freedom Hitch right now if the hilly terrain had not been a problem. I think, like you, I would put the money into a better shelter and work floor. Thats coming next year, I hope!
