Good "...ning" Tractor Experts:

Being somewhat new to tractor ownership I have a basic question about attaching rippers to a 5' wide yellow Big Ox Box Scraper; this is a very nicely designed and constructed heavy duty box scraper and has 5 slots for detachable ripper shanks.

I only have 2 of the 5 ripper shanks and looked at attaching them but seems like theres some missing parts and havent really needed to attach them to date; I have used the scraper for drive grading and moving earth extensively but have managed without shanks to date ... I have a small Yanmar 18 HP that handles the scraper OK but does work hard / stops when the box fills with earth.

Any ideas what pieces Im missing and how to attach the ripers to the scraper? :confused: Where can I get another 3 ripper shanks? I've done some looking on line but cant seem to get a clear answer ... suggestions appreciated; sorry dont have photos of shanks; tractor is 550 kms away ... right now.

Ja13 Pic now attached; a new reciver tube replaces the previous owners hitch ...
With Thanks BC Dave

Posts some pics that should be easy to match.

Photos will help - I would check Ebay, Ag supply and maybe just do a google search for rippers and see what you can pull up. Mostly they just slide through a slot with a pin holding it in position.

I couldn't find any current information to help you but it appears your blade is made by Hiniker.

Bob Skurka posted a lot of info some time ago and included some photos of your Hiniker Box Blade I don't recall any other manufacturer that used that type capture for the rippers.

... photo of the box blade now attached in the first post.

thanks for the info all;

Bob does a good review of scrapers; the riper shank looks closest to the Hiniker or maybe Woods setup; no through hole for a pin as on others ... whats holding that ripper in place??? some sort of steel wedge in the back?
