mower blade question

Once you figure out if it's right or left hand threads, use a good impact wrench.

I went through the same thing on a Landpride mower. I tried everything I had. I borrowed an impact wrench from a friend but they wouldn't budge. So I got to thinking (right or left hand threads?). I called Landpride and found out they were right hand threads, just as I had thought. To make a long story short, I borrowed a better impact wrench. It took me maybe 5 minutes to change all 3 blades.

Needless to say, I bought a decent impact wrench /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a Woods RM59 mower and the blade threds are left hand. I have to remember "clock wise to remove."

I wish You well

Thanks for the helpful advice. I'm probably going to find an impact wrench this weekend. I'll try that before the heat. Also I'm still looking around to confirm left-hand threads or not.

Thanks to all...

Re: mower blade question - UPDATE

Well, Steve from Woods just returned an e-mail I sent last night inquiring about the thread direction on an L59 mower. To my utter shock and suprise I just received a response.

To quote: "L59 mower has left hand threads, opposite of most standard bolts."

I am impressed. Now maybe I can get those blades off before I break something....

Thanks,

wickman

Re: mower blade question - UPDATE

I've been trying for 3 years to get the blades off my Woods RM80. i keep sharpening them on the mower and I know I'm not getting the right bevel. Sure glad to see I'm not the only one talking to my mower /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I can't get an impact wrench to the bolt through the hole in the top of the mower that they give you to get to the bolt. Can't get to it from the bottom either, and it's offset from the hole /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif Since it is a bolt and not a nut, I don't know how to heat it.
