Tractor
John Deere 2720
I have a JD 2720 and was considering picking up the quick attach front blade. I was thinking about it and I am concerned that the blade that is supposed to go on this tractor is only 54" wide. My thinking is that if I am using it to push material and have the blade tilted I will actually be running over the material that is being diverted to the side. This tractor is 54 inches wide. Has anyone had experiance with this? Also is there a slightly longer blade that would fit the quick hitch adaptor that I have?

I unfortunately purchased a 54" plow for my 2520, but last week I upgraded to the Arther Randall 72" blade. It was expensive, but is a very well built unit and was the only turn key solution I could find. I was able to re-use everything from the 54" setup except for the blade.

The 54" is OK for straight line plowing, but snow can start to roll over the top and it is completely useless for my circular drive. The rear inside tire is well inside of the cleared path and it started to ride on top of the of snow and the blade is no longer level. I ended up having to do a lot of straight lines back and forth to clear the circle.

Now if mother nature will give me some snow and the 1" we are getting tonight doesn't count then I will let you know how it performs.

Thanks for the response. That blade looks awesome although a little on the pricy side. I don't have any way to fabricate different brackets so this is the only way I can go. That is getting one that will fit right off the shelf without modifying.

Where are you located? I've got a 47" JD Blower from my x748 with the quick tach hitch I'm no longer using if you like to upgrade to a blower. I'm moving to TN from upstate new York next spring, and figure the 54" blade on my x748 plus the loader on my B2620 will keep me out of trouble.

Isn't the Arthur Randall blade just plug & play? I though it just used the JD factory quick hitch with no fabrication required? If memory serves me it's not cheap though.

It is plug and play and no tools are required. The 54 is held on to the quick hitch with two quick release pins. Pull the pins drop the old blade, line up the new blade and drive the new pins home. Everything but the blade is reused with this setup.

I actually have a 54 inch blower for this tractor already. There are some places in my driveway that I think a blade would work better.
